Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
