Canada's Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Versus the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their initial World Series after the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning, propelling the sole Canadian team in the majors to a four games to three triumph in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the defending champions, in the forthcoming championship.

"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."

George Springer has now connected for 23 total October home runs, ranking him third in history trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment besides Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a championship series.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's painful" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.

"It's a special team. It's a shame that we ended up on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.

Toronto's team secured the title on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on Friday.
