England Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Participation

Tim Southee

Tim Southee's last Test for New Zealand was against England in the final month of 2024.

England fast-bowling advisor Tim Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes series in the host nation.

The ex- New Zealand seamer is expected to be available for the opening match due to his involvement in the International League T20 competition, which begins on 2 December in the United Arab Emirates.

The 36-year-old, 36, took up a position as the English team's fast bowling consultant in the warmer months after claiming 391 scalps in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.

Speaking as England's team for the first of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, he said of his availability: "We are still evaluating the situation at the present time.

"We'll see the outcome over the coming days."

English pace icon Broad had declared the Australia side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which starts on 21 November.

"In my view there's ever a bad Australian cricket team," he said.

"The team's attention is squarely on our own objectives. I think the quality of [England's] team that's going out to the host country is brilliant.

"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the whole cricket world is."

But, prior to England travel to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they take on the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
