Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
